When you successfully register for Cycle the Campus, you will be given tremendous access to help you fundraise with your own personal Cycle the Campus fundraising webpage.  You’ll be able to take advantage of the social media options to easily contact those you are personally connected with to encourage them to support your ride.  In addition, you’ll be able to instantly see who has made gifts to you AND track your goals.

There are two ride options for you: a 50 mile ride and a 25 mile ride!

How Do I Raise Support?

A key to making this event successful and to helping the ministry is your ability to make as many contacts as possible with friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. Find supporters who will make a pledge to donate towards your ride.  Use Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, snail mail, or the Pony Express to make as many contacts as possible.  **(Tip:  Face-to-face asks are 80+% effective.  Test it!)**   Once you complete your own online registration, you can direct your supporters to make a donation online as well.

You are welcome to download the CTC Pledge Sheet to help collect pledges.  You can also utilize the resources provided after you register to ride through  Send e-mails, post to Facebook and Twitter, or send a link to your own CTC fundraising page directly to your supporters.  Be sure to enter all of your offline pledges through your FirstGiving account before June 3.

Do I Have to Be a Part of a Team?

When you register, you’ll be prompted to enter a team that you’ll be riding for.  If you don’t see your team or church listed, you’ll be prompted to create a new team during registration online.

What Equipment Will I Need?

The only mandatory equipment is a functioning bicycle and a bicycle helmet. You will not be able to ride without either. Be sure your bike is in good working order ahead of time.

Other helpful, but not mandatory, equipment includes:

  • Bicycle Attire (gloves, shoes, shorts, jersey)
  • Water bottles
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Rain jacket
  • Hand-Towel (for after the ride)

What About Inclement Weather?

We will do our best to complete the ride under safe conditions. Cycle the Campus will be using the Pere Marquette Rail Trail where no motorized traffic is allowed. Be prepared for rainy weather.

Will There Be Rest Stops?

Yes. They will not be mandatory stops, however. If you choose to stop, there will be energy food and drinks available.

Will There Be A SAG Vehicle?

We’ll have 2 different qualified support vehicles to assist you should you need help.  If your bike needs some simple maintenance, they may be able to fix it on the spot.  If, however, you find yourself needing a different bike, we have a few extra bikes that you can borrow.  We only ask that you don’t take them home with you 🙂

Will There Be Food At Cycle The Campus?

Absolutely!  We’ll provide some light energy foods before the ride (granola bars, fruit, juice) PLUS all the water and Gatorade you can drink.  We’ll also have some trail mix, peanuts, and banana’s available at the rest stops with plenty to drink.

AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR RIDE, there will be plenty to eat.  We’ll have some sub sandwiches plus lots of chips, salads, side dishes, veggies, and dessert donated by several wonderful church family’s.

What Are The Administrative Costs Of Cycle The Campus?

Each year, because of the generous sponsors (see main page), we are able to put 99% of every dollar raised directly towards ministry use.  Less than 1% is spent on administrative costs.  If your organization, church, or business would like to help sponsor next year’s Cycle the Campus event, please contact us by using the contact form.
